Elite K9 Training Programs

Stay and train programs are a great head-start for both the dogs and owners. These programs take place at Elite K9. After your dog has completed a stay and train program, clients will get a full 1-2 hour lesson on what their dog has learned and how to keep up with their new boundaries, structure, and obedience at home.

Elite K9 uses balanced training methods. E-collars, prong collars and slip leashes are used during training.

Training Requirements & Information

All dogs must:

Be up to date on all vaccinations, including Bordetella. Be on flea and tick prevention within 30 days prior to the stay‑and‑train program. Be familiar with crate use. At drop off you will be asked to review and sign the Stay & Train Agreement.

What to Bring

Your dog’s regular food and a flat collar. Treats are optional. Dogs will be transitioned to working without food and/or toys; treats are used minimally. You may bring a bed or blanket for the crate (please do not bring items if your dog will chew in the crate). Crates and food bowls are provided unless you use a slow‑feeder bowl.

Drop‑Off Procedure

Please pull up to the fenced kennel yard (on your right) upon arrival. Leave your dog in the vehicle while we have a brief discussion. After discussion, you may bring your dog out on leash. You will have a chance to say goodbye. Leave your dog’s food on the ground outside the fence before departing. I will then take your dog into the kennel yard and while you leave.

Payment

After you select a drop‑off date, an invoice for the full training program will be emailed to you. 50% of the program fee is due 48 hours before drop off. The remaining balance is due 48 hours before pick up. You may make multiple payments on the invoice as needed, provided the deadlines above are met.

Training Updates

All clients are required to follow Elite K9 LLC on Facebook or Instagram for visual training updates (Stories). You will also receive a text or phone update 1–2 days after drop off regarding how your dog is settling in.

Stay & Train Program Overview

Dogs receive multiple individual training sessions per day, social playtime, individual play, walks, and scheduled yard time (first outs/breakfast, dinner, and last outs before bed). Once dogs demonstrate consistency with commands and mindset work, they will be taken on supervised outings (parks, dog‑friendly stores) to generalize skills.

Programs (except the Premier Puppy Program) use a Mini Educator e‑collar for on‑ and off‑leash communication. The Mini Educator functions like a medical‑grade TENS unit and provides muscle stimulation rather than shock. E‑collars are used to enhance safety and off‑leash reliability, particularly in high‑prey‑drive situations, and for activities like hikes and travel.

Crate Preparation

Dogs must be introduced to or reintroduced to a crate before drop off. If your dog has not used a crate recently, please begin crate use at least one week prior to drop off (e.g., bedtime) to ease the transition.

Go‑Home Day

Allow 1–2 hours for pick up. We will first review your dog’s progress, discuss new boundaries and structure for home, and then conduct a go‑home training session. Please plan to be available for up to two hours.
